40s Deep Pink Dress - Wounded
This dress is heavily wounded but hoping to find the right home for her as a study piece, to use as a pattern or possibly a creative repair. It’s a thicker rayon and the color is really stunning. It’s a deep hot pink! It features a short stand up collar at the nape of the neck and flirty sweetheart neckline. The front of the skirt has a trio of pleats that meet at the center. The flaws are the fabric is stiff, there is discoloration on the right side of skirt (bleach like discoloration) and fabric darkening on both shoulders. This was on Miss D’Meanor’s workbench in hopes she could creatively ‘fix’ the flaws, but we figured we would make her available until it has its turn with her. As a hint for what she was thinking about doing is possible adding a fur ‘collar’ to cover the darkening or adding contrasting/complimentary rayon fabric to form a draping effect starting at the front shoulders and across the upper back. The latter option could also ‘fix’ the lower issue by using the same fabric to edge the top ‘pleat’ or perhaps creating a gathered affixed cummerbund that is affixed to the outer pleat but has a draping appearance. This dress deserves a second chance though!
